17) Behold there lies the man who sits warming up his body with the fire in front and the sun at the back; at night he curls up the body to keep out of the cold; he eats his beggar’s food from the bowl of his hand and sleeps beneath the tree. Still in his heart, he is a wretched puppet at the hands of passions.

శ్రీ ఆదిశంకర విరచిత భజగోవిందం శ్లోకం

అగ్రే వహ్నిః పృష్ఠేభానుః

రాత్రౌ చుబుకసమర్పితజానుః |

కరతలభిక్షస్తరుతలవాసః

తదపి న ముంచత్యాశాపాసః ||17||

భావం: ఎదురుగా చలిమంట పెట్టుకొని,  వీపుపై సూర్యుని కిరణాలు పడేలా కూర్చొని, రాత్రిళ్ళు మోకాళ్ళకి గడ్డాన్ని ఆనించుకుని కూర్చుంటాడు; తిండి తినడానికి రెండు చేతులూ దొప్పలుగా చేసుకొని అందులో తింటాడు. చెట్టు నీడన ఉంటాడు. ఐనా ఆశలు మాత్రం వదలడు.
