slave nation

British officers who served in India were not given public posts/responsibilities when they returned to England.

The argument was that you have ruled over a slave nation which may have made a difference in your attitudes and behaviour.

If you are given such a responsibility here, you will deal with the independent British nation in the same way.

Read the following event with this brief introduction...

A British woman whose husband was a civil service officer in Pakistan and India during the British rule, spent many years of her life in different parts of India.

On her return, she wrote a beautiful book based on her memoirs.

The woman wrote that when my husband was the deputy commissioner of a district, my son was about four years old and my daughter was one year old.  We lived in a multi-acre residence allotted to the Deputy Commissioner.

Hundreds of people were busy serving DC's house and family. There would be parties every day, the big landlords of the district would be proud to invite us to their hunting programs, and whoever we went to would consider it an honour.

Our luxuries were such that even the Queen and the royal family in Britain could hardly afford them.

During the train journey, a luxurious box adorned with Nawabi luxury was reserved for the family of the Deputy Commissioner.

When we boarded the train, the white-clad driver would stand in front of us with both hands tied and asked permission to start the journey. The train would start running only after getting permission.

Once we boarded the train for the journey, according to tradition, the driver came and asked for permission. Before I could speak, my son was in a bad mood for some reason. He told the driver not to drive. The driver, while executing the order, said that the order was made, little sir. After a while, the whole staff, including the station master, gathered and begged my four-year-old son, but he refused to allow the train to run.

Eventually, with great difficulty, I persuaded my son to run the train on the promise of several chocolates, and the journey began.

A few months later, she returned to the UK to visit friends and relatives. We arrived in London by ship, our destination was a county in Wales for which we had to travel by train.

I sat my daughter and son on a station bench and went to get a ticket. It was too late because of the long queue, which made my son very upset.

When we got on the train, seeing the first-class seats instead of the luxurious compound, my son started to get angry again.

When the train started its journey on time, the son started screaming regularly. He was saying out loud, what a potato muscle driver he is. He has started running the train without our permission. I will tell Dad to put on his shoes.

It was difficult for me to explain to him that this is not his father's district, it is a free country.

Even the Prime Minister and the King do not have the power to humiliate the people to satisfy their ego.

*P.S. Today it is clear that we have expelled the British. However, slavery could not be eradicated*.

*Even today, many deputy commissioners, SPs, ministers, advisers and politicians humiliate the people on the streets for hours just to satisfy their ego*. ‏
